Family Life: How Strong Is Your Family Life?

God will help you with the priorities. Start with the little things. Make that first little thing and your ultimate dream be to love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. Inquire of the Lord. That is why God blessed David. The other kings did not inquire; they just made their own plans and went to war.

Never doubt that you are here to make an impact. You were not created so wonderfully and put on this earth to just bide your time. Learn from the past, live for today, prepare and plan for the future. You are here to make an impact, and God is not into wasting time. God will do His part, but He is counting on you to do your part. Always bloom where you are planted. You might not be able to choose your circumstances, but you can choose your response to those circumstances.

God has a generational mindset. Just read all of those genealogies in the Bible, or consider the hundreds of times the word generation is used in God’s Word. You can read often about God’s generational blessings—through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, through Joseph and Moses. God’s truths have endured these many generations. The impact of Jesus Christ has had an incredible generational impact, seen by billions, and unmatched by any other man or god. With the Lord, one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like one day. You are here to influence generations to come, so do not take that lightly. Your choices will greatly affect how that plays out. We read and hear often about the generational impact of man’s failure, whether it be Adam’s sin, the Israelites wasting a generation while trudging through the wilderness, or poor choices of kings, judges, and other leaders who led others away from an Almighty God. Closer to home, you hear the stories of moral failure, or a crushing debt load that will affect you and our country for generations to come. Our choices lead to a generational impact—good or bad.

Living a legacy lifestyle requires a generational mindset. Life is a marathon, each choice representing a twist, turn, or choice of path. Stay on the narrow path. Do not pull a muscle or get dehydrated during this next season of your life. Drink of the Spirit, long for God, work out spiritually, be disciplined. Always be ready for the battle or the competition. Do not let others be your yardstick. Go deeper. Most of your peers throughout life are satisfied with dipping their toe in the river of God. Get wet and stay wet. Think and act generationally. Prepare now to pass the baton to your kids and grandkids.

You are great in God’s eyes. He loves you and takes pleasure in you (Psalm 147:11; 149:4). Be purposeful in ensuring that you do not squander your gifts, your life, or your talents. Be faithful in the little things, and He will put you in charge of greater things. The “little things” begin now in this season of your life. May you set eternity in your heart (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Leave a lasting legacy.
